How long do you keep my data?

Quote data that never becomes a forwarded request is deleted after 12 months. Where a request was forwarded and a policy issued, we retain the order and correspondence for six years to meet limitation-period and tax-record obligations, then delete it. Full detail is in our privacy policy.

How do I ask for my data or have it deleted?

Email privacy@bluebirdinsurance.co.uk from the address on your order. We respond within one month as UK GDPR requires. Where a policy has been issued you will also need to contact the insurer directly, as it holds its own copy as an independent controller.

What we collect and why

We collect only what insurers require to assess a short-term motor request: the vehicle registration, your licence type and history, your address, occupation, and your claims and conviction history. Each answer either affects the price or the eligibility decision.

Verification

Vehicle details are looked up from UK vehicle data rather than typed by hand, so make, model, engine size and body type match the registration you enter. Addresses are matched to Royal Mail postcode data. Neither check is a credit search and neither leaves a footprint on your credit file.

Payments and card data

Card details are entered directly with our payment processor and are never stored on our systems. We hold the order reference and the outcome of the payment, not the card number.

Sharing with insurers

The purpose of the service is to forward your details to third-party insurers, so those insurers receive the information you provide. They act as independent data controllers for it once received, under their own privacy notices. We do not sell your data, and we do not pass it to marketing lists.

Shared responsibility

Bluebird is responsible for the accuracy of what we forward and for the security of our own systems. The insurer is responsible for the cover decision, the policy documents, the Motor Insurance Database entry and claims. You are responsible for the accuracy of the answers you give — a material inaccuracy can void a policy an insurer has issued.

What we do not claim

We are not FCA authorised, we hold no insurance certification, and we do not describe ourselves as verified or accredited by any body. Where this page describes a control, it is a control we operate ourselves.
