Temporary insurance price calculator
A rough guide to what short-term cover costs, so you know what to expect before you enter any personal details.
How prices are built
A temporary premium starts from a base rate for the duration, then adjusts for the vehicle's insurance group and value, the driver's age and licence length, their claims and conviction history, the postcode, and how soon cover needs to start.
Insurance Premium Tax is applied on top and is included in every price we display.
Typical ranges
For a driver aged 25 to 60 with a clean licence in a mid-group car, expect roughly £10 for an hour, £17 to £30 for a day, £50 to £80 for a week and £130 to £200 for a month. Younger drivers, higher groups and recent claims move these numbers up.
