How it works

Four steps, about three minutes, and you are insured. Here is exactly what happens between entering a registration and holding a certificate.

1. Enter the registration

We look the vehicle up against UK vehicle data, so you do not have to type out the make, model, engine size or year. Confirm the car we show you is the right one and move on.

If a vehicle cannot be found or falls outside our acceptance criteria, we tell you immediately rather than at the payment screen.

2. Tell us about you

A short set of questions about your licence type and how long you have held it, your address, your occupation and your claims and conviction history. Everything we ask affects the price or the eligibility decision — nothing is collected for the sake of it.

3. Choose your cover

Pick a duration from one hour up to 30 days and a start time from 15 minutes' time onwards. The price updates as you change the length, so you can see what an extra day actually costs before committing.

4. We send it to the insurers

We are not an insurer. We format your details into the template insurers ask for and pass the request on. If an insurer accepts it, the insurer issues your certificate of motor insurance and policy schedule directly to you and registers the policy on the Motor Insurance Database. You are only insured once you hold those documents from the insurer — do not drive before then.
