Accessibility statement

Buying cover should not depend on having perfect eyesight, a steady hand or a mouse. This statement sets out what we build to, what we know is not yet good enough, and how to tell us when you hit a barrier.

The standard we work to

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA across the public site and the quote journey. In practice that means every form control has a visible label and an accessible name, the whole journey can be completed with a keyboard alone, focus is always visible, text meets contrast requirements in both light and dark themes, and error messages say what is wrong and how to fix it rather than simply marking a field red.

What we test

The quote funnel is walked end to end with a keyboard and with automated accessibility checks at each step, at both mobile and desktop widths. Dropdowns, date fields and the situation cards in the cover step get particular attention because they are the controls people most often report trouble with.

Known limitations

We are honest about where we are not there yet.

  • PDF documents issued after payment are generated from templates and are not yet fully tagged for screen readers.
  • Some third-party review content is embedded and its markup is outside our control.
  • Long comparison tables require horizontal scrolling on very narrow screens.

Telling us about a problem

Email accessibility@bluebirdinsurance.co.uk describing the page and what happened. We acknowledge within one working day and, where the fix is in our own code, aim to ship it within ten working days. If a barrier stops you completing a quote, say so and we will take your details another way rather than making you fight the form.
